At Quilts of Denmark, we take responsibility for animals, people, and the environment that are directly or indirectly part of our production. All our products — except fiber-based items — are made from natural materials such as cotton, down, and feathers, and we never compromise on how they are sourced or produced. For us, it’s not only about creating better sleep, but also about being able to stand behind every single product we send out into the world.

Down and feather
The fine down and feathers used as filling in our duvets and pillows come from geese and ducks. They are always sourced as a natural by-product of the food industry — never from animals raised solely for their feathers. In this way, we help ensure that valuable materials are put to good use rather than going to waste.
As a member of EDFA (the European Down and Feather Association), we know that approximately 98% of all down and feathers worldwide originate from poultry processed for food.
All our filling is also certified according to the Downafresh® greenLine standard. This means it has been carefully washed and processed in a responsible manner, ensuring it is exceptionally clean and hygienic before being used in our duvets and pillows.
Full focus on animal welfare
We take a clear and uncompromising stance against all forms of animal cruelty — including the live plucking of down and feathers.
Animal welfare is a fundamental value for us, and we are committed to ensuring proper, responsible conditions for the birds from which our down and feathers are sourced.
All our down products are certified according to both the Downpass and DOWNAFRESH® standards, guaranteeing an audited and fully traceable system. This is your assurance that our down filling meets all applicable requirements for animal welfare and ethical responsibility.
Quality and integrity at every level
At Quilts of Denmark, we are committed to quality, transparency, and responsible practices — both within our own operations and throughout our partnerships. That is why we are members of several respected industry organizations that help ensure integrity and accountability at every stage.

EDFA
We are a member of the European Down and Feather Association – a leading European industry organization for down and feathers. Through this membership, we adhere to clearly defined standards for animal welfare and full traceability, ensuring complete transparency and confidence in how our filings are sourced and produced.
AMFORI
Amfori supports us in operating more responsibly across our supply chain. Through the BSCI initiative, we monitor and help ensure fair and safe working conditions at our suppliers. At the same time, via BEPI, we actively work to reduce our environmental and climate impact.
SEDEX
As a member of SEDEX, which focuses on ethical business practices in production, our facilities in Southern Jutland are independently audited every three years in accordance with the SMETA standard.
We also require our suppliers to undergo the same SMETA audit or an equivalent audit under amfori BSCI. This ensures that every stage of our production meets recognized international ethical standards.
Better Cotton (BCI)
We are, of course, also a member of Better Cotton (BCI), an initiative dedicated to improving global cotton production—for the benefit of both the environment and the people who grow it.
The majority of the cotton fabric we use in our products is BCI-certified, and we are continuously working to increase that share even further.
Green energy
All of our production in Vamdrup is powered by green energy. For us, it is essential to run a business that minimizes its environmental impact—for our own sake and, above all, for the generations to come.
