Ethical standards
At Quilts of Denmark, we take responsibility for the people, animals, and the environment involved in our production – directly or indirectly. All our products – except for our fiber-filled products – are made from natural materials like cotton, down, and feathers. And we never compromise on how they are sourced or processed. Because for us, it is not just about creating good sleep. It is about being proud of every single product we send out into the world.

Down and feathers
A natural by-product from the food industry
The soft down and feathers we use in our duvets and pillows come from geese and ducks – but always as a natural by-product from the food industry, and never from animals raised only for their feathers. That way, we help make use of materials that would otherwise go to waste. As a member of EDFA, we also know that about 98% of all down and feathers globally come from slaughtered poultry.
All our filling is also DOWNAFRESH® greenLine certified, which means it is washed and treated gently and responsibly, so it is perfectly clean when we add it to our duvets and pillows.
Fully focused on animal welfare
We strongly oppose any kind of animal cruelty – including the live plucking of down and feathers. Animal welfare is a core value for us, and we work actively to ensure proper treatment of the birds we get our down and feathers from.
Our down products are certified with both Downpass and DOWNAFRESH®, which guarantee that the filling is fully traceable and audited. That is your assurance that our products meet high standards for animal welfare and ethics.
Quality and ethics all the way through
At Quilts of Denmark, we care about quality, transparency, and doing things right – in our own facilities and with the partners we work with. That is why we are members of several strong organizations that help us ensure everything is done properly – from start to finish.

EDFA
We are a member of the European Down and Feather Association – a European trade organisation for down and feathers. Here, we work according to clear standards for animal welfare and traceability, so you can feel confident about how our filling is sourced and produced.
AMFORI
Amfori helps us trade more responsibly. Through BSCI, we monitor working conditions at our suppliers. And with BEPI, we work on reducing our climate footprint.
SEDEX
As members of SEDEX, we focus on ethics in production. Our facilities in Southern Jutland is audited every three years through the SMETA standard by an independent third party. We also require our suppliers to undergo the same SMETA audit – or a comparable one via Amfori BSCI – to ensure every step of our production meets international ethical standards.
Better Cotton (BCI)
We are also proud members of Better Cotton (BCI), which works to improve global cotton farming – for both the environment and the people who grow it. Most of the cotton fabric we use in our products is BCI certified, and we are constantly working to increase that share.
Green energy
Our entire production in Vamdrup runs on green energy. That is important to us – because we want to run a business that takes care of the environment, especially for the generations to come.
