Pillow Guide

Your choice of pillow is crucial to getting a good night’s sleep. If you often find that you don’t feel properly rested in the morning, it could be because you’re sleeping with the wrong pillow. You should consider the following when choosing your pillow.

Your sleeping position

If you tend to sleep on your stomach, choose a low to medium pillow – and perhaps one that’s softer than if you sleep on your back, for example. However, the clear recommendation from us is to try sleeping on your side or back, as it’s better for your neck. When you sleep on your back, your neck needs more support and it will still be a low or medium pillow you should go for. If you tend to sleep on your side, you should choose a medium to high pillow – whether it’s a harder or softer pillow is very individual.

Pillow filling

When looking for your next pillow, it’s also important to consider what type of filling you want in your pillow. Let’s take a closer look at the 3 types of fillings we have in our range.

Natural filling

At Quilts of Denmark, we work with down, feathers and silk in our natural-filled pillows. The advantage of a pillow with down and/or feathers is that it feels incredibly soft and cozy, while the filling can be moved around, which many people like, because it allows them to “shape” their pillow. Down and feathers are also great at wicking moisture away from your head, which is beneficial if you feel hot at night. It’s important to remember to wash your pillow regularly to keep the down and feathers fresh and fluffy. Read more about how to wash your pillow here.

Fiber filling

Fiber is a significantly cheaper filling type than down, feathers and foam. The advantage of fiber is therefore also that fiber pillows are usually cheaper than a down or foam pillow. Whether you prefer fiber or down/feather is often a question of what you are used to sleeping with. We also often hear that people with allergies to down and feathers choose a fiber pillow.

Foam filling

We use foam filling in all our ergonomic pillows. Ergonomic pillows come in many shapes and are designed to relieve your neck and shoulders. We use memory foam in our foam pillows to mold to your body and provide support throughout the night. It is therefore also important that you choose a pillow that suits your needs so that you don’t end up lying incorrectly. If you are in doubt, we recommend seeking the advice of a chiropractor or get help from store staff.
