The world’s most luxurious duvet – 100% eiderdown
An unrivalled luxury duvet made from 100% eiderdown from some of the coldest regions in the world. The casing is likewise of the very highest quality, consisting of a unique blend of the finest cashmere wool and cotton. These fantastic materials form the basis of the world’s most luxurious duvet. Unlike other types of down, the tiny, fine eiderdown clusters hook into each other so they do not separate and therefore do not clump. In addition, you cannot feel the fine little quills of the eiderdown at all, so the duvet can truly cuddle and envelop you at night in pure softness and lightness.
The measurement methods used for other types of down give a misleading picture of the actual insulating capacity of eiderdown, so we do not state fill power for this type of down. Eiderdown is – without comparison – the warmest and at the same time lightest raw material in the world. An eiderdown duvet is also animal-friendly, as the down does not come from slaughtered birds, but is instead collected by hand directly from the nest. The eiderdown provides a constant, delightful warmth under the duvet, while it still feels incredibly light and airy. It is the air in the filling that keeps in the heat.
An eiderdown duvet is a long-term investment. Eiderdown lasts much longer than other duvet filling types. There are several examples of eiderdown duvets that are more than 100 years old and have been passed down through generations. Because the eiderdown is so durable, it is possible, when the time comes, to move the eiderdown into a new casing, so the next generation receives an entirely new duvet that can be used for a lifetime and then passed on yet again.
Eiderdown – hand-collected from the nest and hand-filled in production
Obtaining eiderdown is a slow and time-consuming process. The eider ducks are carefully protected, and you wait until they have built their nests, hatched their eggs, and the ducklings have left the nest. Only then are the tiny, fine eiderdown clusters collected by hand from the abandoned nests. Eider ducks live freely in limited areas in some of the coldest regions in the world – such as Iceland or the northernmost part of Finland – which means that the amount of eiderdown available is very limited.
The climate, food, surroundings and the life of the eider ducks all determine how much down is available each year. Once the eiderdown has been collected from the nests, it is dried and cleaned on a special down comb – this is also done by hand. It is truly craftsmanship without comparison. On top of that, we also hand-fill the casings with eiderdown at our production facilities in Vamdrup.

Certifications
Eiderdown duvets are the only duvets we produce with a pure natural filling that do not carry the DOWNPASS 2017 label. This is because the down is collected from abandoned nests and does not come directly from the birds. For that reason, the animal-welfare aspects covered by DOWNPASS are not applicable to this type of natural filling.
That said, there is no doubt that our suppliers care deeply about the wellbeing of the birds in their areas – otherwise they would simply find new nesting sites. As you can see in the photos from one of our suppliers, the birds even have the option of building their nests under a roof.

All our eiderdown duvets are made to order and are typically available in two sizes: 140×200 cm and 140×220 cm, and in three heat classes: light, medium and warm.
Maintenance
Should be aired and brushed with a soft brush. Must not be beaten, vacuumed, washed or dry-cleaned. Can be spot-cleaned with a well-wrung sponge and a mild, enzyme-free detergent.
