The art of making silk was invented in China 5,000 years ago, and the Chinese are still leaders when it comes to raw silk and processed silk products, such as high-quality silk bedding. The silkworm caterpillars, which spin the fine silk threads, feed on freshly chopped mulberry leaves. This is where the name mulberry silk comes from.
